Britain’s one of the largest mobile services providers BT Group raises cybersecurity alarm: “…every 90 seconds hackers are checking…”

According to a recent report, BT Group, one of the largest mobile services providers in Britain, has claimed to detect 2,000 potential cyber-attacks every second on its network. The company has observed that cyber criminals are using disposable “bots” to bypass existing security measures. Tris Morgan, BT’s managing director of security, stated that hackers are attempting to access connected devices every 90 seconds. The report also revealed that malicious scanning by hackers using “bots” has increased by 1,200% in July compared to the same month last year. BT also mentioned that industries such as retail, education, hospitality, defence, and financial services are being targeted by hackers. This information was shared at the company’s Secure Tomorrow cybersecurity event, where they showcased their quantum secure communications and AI cyber defense capabilities. In other news, Bharti Group, owned by Sunil Bharti Mittal, recently acquired a 24.5% stake in BT Group for $4 billion, making them the largest shareholder in the company. Bharti Global, the international investment arm of Bharti Enterprises, will purchase a 9.99% stake from Altice and the remaining after obtaining regulatory approvals. Bharti is the second-largest telecom operator in India with 400 million subscribers, and BT previously owned a 21% stake in Bharti Airtel from 1997 to 2001.
